What is the difference between standing seam and the ribbed metal on most barns?
Fasteners. Ribbed agricultural panel is screwed through the face of the metal, so every screw is a hole with a rubber washer holding it back, and those washers dry out. Standing seam hides its fasteners under the seam — nothing penetrates the weather surface at all. It costs more and it is the one to put on a house.
Can you work around our rental bookings?
Yes. Tell us the gaps and we will work to them. Most cabin roofs are small enough to complete inside a short window if the material is staged ahead of time.
Will a metal roof shed snow onto the deck or the hot tub?
It will, and that needs designing for rather than discovering. Where a slope runs out over a deck, an entrance or a tub, we fit snow retention so the load releases gradually instead of all at once.
Does a dark roof get too hot in summer?
Painted metal reflects considerably more solar energy than asphalt of the same colour, and a vented assembly carries off what it does absorb. A dark metal roof generally runs cooler through the attic than the dark shingle roof it replaced.
